Silver medals

It wasn't the colour we wanted but it was a step up from bronze and matched last years medal.  We started out today matched up with the team we beat yesterday and won convincingly with a mercy.  We hit great and Elaine had a grand slam.  One of our fielders, Cecile, caugt a ball with two hands and needed 8 stitches to close up the gash between her fingers.  Ouch!
The win put us into the silver- gold game against San Diego who beat us last night.  They beat us again today 16-4.  Our bats just died after a great hitting couple of days.
We now move onto the 50+ games and Cynde gets to play.  Some of our 55 girls are playing with a different 50 team so we have a bit if a new crew.
Cyn did well selling dish cloths and scrubbies in the stands today so we are off to Joann's tomorrow!

It's a golden day

Well we did it!   Went undefeated to win the gold medal beating the Subway Sluggers from PEI 11-4 in the final.  It was a bit back in forth in the beginning we got out to a 2 zip lead then they scored 3.  We were rallying with bases loaded none out and they ended up getting a triple play on a hard liner to left.  I was a bit worried when that happened.  Next up we loaded the bases again and our pitcher Tania hit a double to score three.  We gave up one in the top of the inning and then we loaded the bases again and Rosie hit a double to give us the seven runs needed in the fifth to mercy.  She had pitched the win to get us to the gold and is 55 like me so it was sweet.  I started the game in right and Cynde took over for me.  Marla was in left field and made a couple nice catches. We then took tons of photos and started trading with the other teams while celebrating with a beer in the beer gardens ( well rum and coke for me - yes hard stuff ...

It's a golden day

We won the gold and we didn't have to come from behind this game!  Fire and Ice jumped out to a 5 zip lead and then led 8-0 after two innings.  Running out of time scored a couple and then made it close before we scored another 5 and held on for a 13-7 win.  We played great defensively with a double play that could have been a triple play and some timely catches in the outfield.   Most of the team now moves up to the 55 plus division with play starting Monday.  Time for some pool time.

A little slow to get to the blog going due to poor internet connections and poor life choices lol!  Who knew we could still pull an all nighter! So much fun here on days one-two.  We arrived to gorgeous warm weather and checked into Ballys to begin an awesome night.  We got our $250 JLo money (she cancelled her concert and the hotel gave us money for the tickets we had been comped - go figure) and hit the slot floor.  After a few wins, plenty of alcohol, pizza for dinner and some awesome dance moves we were surprised to see the sun coming up so we went to McDonalds for breakfast and some of us managed to eat.  More slots and a $1000 win for me and coach Cynde we headed home for a short nap- long sun burn at the pool.  A great steak dinner at Paris and we have leftover steak, cheesecake and chocolate cake for our Thanksgiving breakfast.  Might even a drink of Captain Morgan pumpkin spiced rum today!  We are so thankful for this trip!  Enjoy yo...
