Silver for second

Yesterday was a disappointing day to say the least.  We went into the gold medal game against the Alberta Valley Girls knowing they had to beat us twice and that's what happened.  The first game went back and forth but we lost by two runs.  The second game was even closer going to extra innings and we lost by one.  A huge disappointment especially since we had mercied them the day before.  Oh well we got silver and Carri got a nice raspberry on her leg from a slide and yes she was safe. We got our medals, watched our coach's team play for a bit, sold five dishcloths and headed for Vegas.  Sad that we only get to see these girls a couple times a year but so enjoy them when we get together.  All and all a good showing at the 2017 Huntsman Games.

Going for Gold again

The bats came alive today and we are playing for gold tomorrow!  We played Blue Diamonds from BC and got revenge for yesterday's loss with a solid 15-4 victory.  We had awesome defense with five double plays.  Carri played field and had a great bases loaded double.  I pitched and covered first on one of the double plays. The second game was a19-2 mercy over the Alberta Valley Girls.  We turned two more double plays and had great bats all game long. The victory sent us right to the gold-silver game so we are bringing home a medal.  Whoever we play has to beat us twice.  Game time 11:10.
Three games today and we won two and lost one game by one run.  The first game was a 16-0 win over Reno and I pitched the win.  In the second game we were leading going into the bottom of the last inning but gave up two runs and lost by one.  I sat that game.  The last game was a 14-4 win over a mixed Kelowna Arizona team.  Tomorrow we play at 11:10.  Cynde is not enjoying her spectator  duties as she would rather be playing but she did manage to get two dish cloths knitted.  Get your orders in!  The weather is spectacular and we are happy to be missing the storms at home.

It's a golden day

We won the gold and we didn't have to come from behind this game!  Fire and Ice jumped out to a 5 zip lead and then led 8-0 after two innings.  Running out of time scored a couple and then made it close before we scored another 5 and held on for a 13-7 win.  We played great defensively with a double play that could have been a triple play and some timely catches in the outfield.   Most of the team now moves up to the 55 plus division with play starting Monday.  Time for some pool time.

medal winners

Gold or silver we got a medal.  Two very tough come from behind wins today.  The first against Running Out of Time and we gave them a lead and then finally strung together some hits in the last two innings and hung on for a 10-9 win.  I had a home run in that game. The next game we scored two runs in the first and then were down.  We scored five to get close and then were down 10-7 going into the last inning.  Cynde drove in the tying run and we went to extra innings where we strung some hits together to win the game to advance to the gold medal game tomorrow at 11:10.  Carri played awesome in the field and as our number two batter. Should be fun tomorrow at the fabulous Canyon Diamonds.
Three games in a row and no bats for the first two.  We lost to a team from Alaska and then lost to the Old Bats from Utah before beating Oregon Reign.  I pitched, Carri played field and Cynde was the flex fielder going in every inning to a different field.  We have 13 players are everyone was in the game.  I hit a triple and the Cynde hit me in.  The ump we had for all of the games was terrible.  His strike zone was inconsistent, he was slower than slow and when Cynde questioned one of the strikes he called he said he was trying to build up the pitchers confidence- such bull!  Anyhow waiting for the draw to know tomorrow's game times and hoping for better results.
Woke up to gorgeous sunshine.  Time to register this morning and get our package of goodies.  Three games starting at 5 back to back to back.

It's a travel day

Left Vegas for St. George today.  Listened to Vegas sports radio talk about the Vegas Knights season opener last night and kind of wish we had gone but the announcers were horrid.  Not very positive about the team and not very knowledgeable about the game.  Think we could have done a better job talking hockey and we did.  Americans just don't get hockey. The drive was very pretty and first stop was Lees Liquor Store then to buy a cooler to keep our booze cold.  We have quite the collection!  Met up with the 50plus girls for batting practice and then to Olive Garden.  Three games back to back tomorrow starting at 5. One another note picked up the car yesterday and drove the strip.  Big tribute with flowers, crosses and tons of people at the memorial site for the 58 people killed at the Vegas concert.  Also saw the boarded up window at Mandalay Bay before going to have a look at the Southpoint Casino. Enjoy theses photos from our drive ...
Man the Vegas strip is long!  It took us 12 hours to walk from Ballys to Ross with stops at the Aria, Monte Carlo, New York New York and MGM where we fished and represented the Salmon Capital of the World.... Not always a great representation but man it was fun.  Many pairs of shoes, underwear and socks were purchased at Ross and Carri even lost her shoe probably due to one to many paralyzed.  She says someone tried to steal her shoe but we don't believe her.  Dinner at Walburgs Just before midnight wrapped up an awesome day.  Not overly busy here this weekend and security presence a bit more noticeable but they didn't confiscate my selfie stick so all is good.

A little slow to get to the blog going due to poor internet connections and poor life choices lol!  Who knew we could still pull an all nighter! So much fun here on days one-two.  We arrived to gorgeous warm weather and checked into Ballys to begin an awesome night.  We got our $250 JLo money (she cancelled her concert and the hotel gave us money for the tickets we had been comped - go figure) and hit the slot floor.  After a few wins, plenty of alcohol, pizza for dinner and some awesome dance moves we were surprised to see the sun coming up so we went to McDonalds for breakfast and some of us managed to eat.  More slots and a $1000 win for me and coach Cynde we headed home for a short nap- long sun burn at the pool.  A great steak dinner at Paris and we have leftover steak, cheesecake and chocolate cake for our Thanksgiving breakfast.  Might even a drink of Captain Morgan pumpkin spiced rum today!  We are so thankful for this trip!  Enjoy yo...

another adventure

Well it's October and that means we are off to Utah.  Vegas first and then on to St. George for the World Senior Games.  We will play 50s first and then for the first time ever (well since I got so old) I can play on the 55 team with Carri and the crew. So excited to have world gold medalist Rosie Chrest join us on the 50 team.  It would be cool to win a gold to go with our World Masters Medal.  Seems so long ago that we were there but I just started scrapbooking the trip and it was just like yesterday.  Looking forward to Vegas even after all the events that happened there last weekend.   Cynde and Steve usually go to that concert but this year they decided to visit Taryn instead.  Good decision even if they had to be handy and help Taryn with broken closet rods, shelves and that kind of thing. I will do my best to update and to add pictures if I can figure that out.  Thanks for reading.
